Meme: Music

I was gifted with the letter "B" by dharkapparition. I didn't think I would be able to come up with 10 B songs at first, but I actually had to do some thinking to narrow it down after looking at my playlist.

Anyway, the rules of the game are: List 10 songs that begin with the letter given to you and explain why you picked them. Comment and I shall give you a letter.

Presented in alphabetical order and I typed while listening to each song:

  1. Babysitting Blues by cast members
This is from the movie Adventures in Babysitting. Let's just say I grew up with this one. A bit of trivia, Keith Coogan, who played Brad, was also Kenny in Don't Tell Mom the Babysitters Dead. Also, Anthony Rapp, who played Daryl (his first role), was the original Mark in Broadway's RENT and in the movie.

  2. Bad Moon Rising by Creedance Clearwater Revival
Who wouldn't put this on the "B" list? There's a bad moon on the rise!

  3. Ballad of Davy Crockett by Fess Parker (played him on the old Disney show)
I have several versions of this song and this is the only one that doesn't have "the" at the front. I'm a country girl at heart.

  4. Barn Dance
This is a pure music piece from the musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954). The six of the seven brothers face off against six town guys to win the hearts of the girls at the barn raisin'. It is the best part of the whole movie in my opinion and I've watched the movie enough times over the years that I feel justified in having an opinion. A bit of movie trivia, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was shot in two versions, one widescreen and another in normal ratio.

  5. Battle of the Heroes by John Williams
Well, I had to get some Star Wars in here somehow. This was the end fight sequence from Episode III which was the best of the movie probably. The music is awesome at least. I've always enjoyed Star Wars music. Sorry, just sitting here listening to it play instead of typing on this one.

  6. Be Our Guest by Beauty and the Beast cast members
I have so much freakin' Disney music on my computer that I had to have something on the list. I probably sang along with the song the most out of all the BatB music. Some trivia from IMDb says that this song was originally animated with Maurice (Belle's father) instead of Belle as the guest, but they decided not to waste such a wonderful song on a secondary character. BatB was nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture, losing to The Silence of the Lambs (1991). It was, however, the first full length animated feature to win the Golden Globe for Best Picture (Musical or Comedy).

  7. Beep Beep (The Little Nash Rambler) by the Playmates
If you haven't listened to this before, you're missing out. It was on a cassette tape I had of silly songs as a kid and I found it for download back in college. Something to keep in mind, don't play this song on the iPod while driving. As it progresses the song picks up speed in both the lyrics and pace... it causes you to want to push the gas a little bit more.

  8. Blue Clear Sky by George Strait
I have a ton of George Strait music on my computer. This song actually was worded that way (as opposed to Clear Blue Sky) because of the movie Forest Gump. At one point, Forest said blue clear sky and it struck a cord with the song writer. Supposedly, George Strait asked them to flip but they didn't because he had trouble doing it the way the song called for.

  9. Born to Hand Jive from Grease Soundtrack
Well, I'm not watching the new reality show or anything, but I do like to watch Grease every now and then and do like the music. This probably wasn't my favorite piece from the movie, but it started with a "B" so I kept it during my cuts. No, I can't Hand Jive. I don't have that skill set.

  10. Bring Me To Life by Evanexcence
I think the first place I remember hearing this song was on the movie Daredevil. I could give or take the movie, but the song has a soft place in my music likes. Out of the 10 listed here, this one is my favorite and has the highest play count (discounting Blue Clear Sky that is skewed from when my hard drive crashed and I only had George Strait on it before I could borrow my old computer back from my sister to reload my other music and it reset the playcount...). Lots of times I start my iPod off on random loop with this song. Well, that is all I guess. Oh, I did some fanart focusing on Willow using lyrics from this song: http://kaylashay81.livejournal.com/18466.html
