Weather...

Just spent the last little bit in the basement. A confirmed tornado passed just a 4-8 miles away from me and then hopped the river to a town in Illinois. Early reports say it is bad. Emergency sirens are going off all over town.

Luckily my immediate vicinity is okay.

ETA: At least 50 mobile homes destroyed 4-5 miles west of me over the river in Illinois. That town took a direct hit. :(

Me too... it was a little dicey there for a few, especially when you can't see anything out the basement window because of how much rain was falling. The tornado passed about 4-8 miles away from our house from what I gather so far. Sirens are still going off all over town for emergency vehicles. I'm thinking a few will be crossing over the river to help. They closed the bridge to that town. The bridge is about 3 miles away from my house.

I had my bicycle helmet on in the basement.

All is good for me... but Brookport, IL took a direct hit about 4 miles west of my house over the river. There's one confirmed dead and many more injured/trapped. :(

So glad you are okay! I grew up in Iowa and hated storms all my life. We had some bad ones that were too close and I remember those basement vigils worrying and waiting for the storms to pass. I used to wear my brothers football helmet! :) Take care and big hugs!

My first was June 4, 1993 and ended with a tree on top of our house and no power for 5 days. My dad cleared about 20 trees off a mile stretch of road with his tractor.

In 2003, one F4 touched down a mile past my parents place and killed a man I knew and left many other homeless.

So I do not like the wind at all when it is backed by a line of storms. :(

I had a bicycle helmet on in my basement. There was a kid in Joplin, MO saved because his mom put helmets on all her kids. He was hit in the head by a toilet.

Brookport, IL took a direct hit and has at least 2 dead. That's about 4-5 miles west of me. Not a good day for them over there. :(
